Master's studies – Mechanical Engineering

Master of Mechanical Engineering (in the appropriate module); Master of Mechatronics Engineering

A student who defends their master's thesis after passing all courses prescribed by the curriculum for two semesters receives a certificate of completion of the study program with 60 ECTS credits, specifically as a Master of Mechanical Engineering in the appropriate module or a Master of Mechatronics Engineering – 60 ECTS.

Master of Mechanical Engineering and Master of Mechatronics Engineering are two different degrees in the field of engineering.

Master of Mechanical Engineering (production mechanical engineering, engines and motor vehicles) usually focuses on a wide range of topics including mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, and materials. They are trained in the development, design, and production of mechanical systems, such as machines, equipment, and devices. Depending on the chosen track, Masters of Mechanical Engineering can focus on specific areas such as manufacturing, automotive engineering, aeronautics and astronautics, energy and the environment, or the application of new materials and technologies.

On the other hand, Master of Mechatronics Engineering combines knowledge from different fields of engineering, including mechanics, electronics, informatics, and automation. They are specialized in the development of intelligent systems and automation, including robots and autonomous systems, and in the integration of mechanical, electronic, and informatics components into a single whole.

Therefore, a Master of Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Mechatronics Engineering have different areas of focus, and the choice between them depends on your interests and career goals. If you are interested in the design of mechanical systems, rather than the development of robotic systems, then a Master of Mechanical Engineering would be a better choice for you. If, however, you are interested in the development of intelligent systems and automation, then a Master of Mechatronics Engineering would be a better choice.
